Investing in Silver
While it’s more accessible to most than gold, silver is still one of the most precious investments you can make.
Our Expertise
Silver has successfully continued to have an excellent purchasing power over time, the same with gold. Silver can also be the perfect form of investment for uncertain times since it has a negative correlation to stocks, government bonds, and other asset classes.
Our smart investors turn to silver when inflation starts to rear its ugly face. No doubt, investing in silver means protecting your assets against inflation’s long-term threat and during times of economic turmoil..
Benefits Of Silver
Silver is a desirable precious metal, and like gold, it has an intrinsic value. Silver is widely perceived to be both a commodity and a form of money, and it has been used as a medium of exchange for thousands of years due to its inherent value.
Silver can act as a hedge against inflation and a portfolio diversification technique to mitigate geo-political, monetary and systemic risks. Like gold, silver is a store of value and has retained its purchasing power over long periods of time.
Silver is more affordable than gold for US buyers as they can accumulate more silver than gold for the same mount of monetary investment. Also, silver is more affordable as buyers can dollar cost average into a position through regular small purchases. Psychologically, this makes the purchase of silver more achievable for small investors since $1,300 can buy up to 80 ounces of silver but just over one ounce of gold.
Types of Silver
Silver, like Gold, comes in various different forms for investment.
Some
of the most popular types are below:
Modern bullion coins and bars
Modern bullion coins allow investors to own investment-grade silver legal tender coins at a small premium to the spot price of silver as quoted on the markets. The value of bullion coins and bars is determined almost solely by the price of silver, and thus follows the bullion price.
Semi-numismatic and numismatic gold coins
Numismatic or older and rare coins are bought not solely for their precious metal content, but also for their rarity and their historical, aesthetic appeal. They are leveraged to the silver price, which means that the price of these coins will generally increase faster than the silver price in a bull market and will decrease by more when silver is in a bear market.
FAQ
Does the face value of a silver coin affect its worth?
Silver coins generally carry a small face value making them legal tender in their respective country of origin. That said, legal tender silver coins are generally priced based on their silver content. Although silver coins may be legal tender, they are not typically used in day to day transactions as typically their precious metal content value is far greater than their legal tender face value.
How often do spot silver prices change?
The price of silver is constantly changing. The spot price of silver changes every few seconds during market hours. Between domestic and foreign exchanges, spot silver prices update Sunday through Friday, from 6PM EST to 5:15PM EST each day. Spot prices remain static during that 45 minute down period from 5:15PM EST to 6PM EST each weekday, as well as from 5:15PM EST on Friday until 6PM EST on Sunday. Although silver and other markets may have periods in which they are very quiet, they also have periods in which prices change very rapidly.
